Images after the fire

CXPRESS contributor NIKKI RIDLEY grabbed her camera and trekked down the valley where yet another runaway fire, suspected to have been reignited at the old Plett Timbers site, raged its way in the direction of Wittedrift on February 28. Experienced enough to know that the end of one fire doesn’t necessarily mean that flare-ups won’t occur, she bumped into a few firefighting veterans along the route, saw private vehicles damaged in this line of voluntary duty, and grateful owners of homes meeting some of the many locals and their colleagues from elsewhere on the Route who saved their abodes from burning to the ground. We also thank Stuart Brink ( for sharing his areal pics of the damage, and the many readers who shared their photos of before, during, and after the fire.
