Housing dearth and electricity charges fuel Plett protests

Thousands of people marched from Kwanokuthula to the Bitou municipal offices on Wednesday February 20 to hand a memorandum to Mayor Peter Lobese, listing demands around the allocation of electricity units and related issues. On the previous evening, residents of the informal Qolweni settlement burnt tyres and other objects on the N2 to voice their lingering gripes over housing.
