ELALINI Backpackers and Francois Haasbroek are sponsoring a free event for Knysna residents and visitors on Friday June 16 at 3pm in aid of those affected by the devastating fires in Knysna.
Elalini Backpackers and all its residents were evacuated twice in the past few days as fires threatened the Buffalo Bay region. Luckily, their property came off unscathed and now they want to give back to their neighbours who weren't so lucky.
The generous team at Elalini Backpackers along with Francois Haasbroek have decided to scrap all entry fees for their Youth Day Celebrations on Friday.
If you are in the area and you need a night out, come to Elalini Backpackers to sing and dance the night away. Bring the children and your Djembe drum along, and join the drum circle at sunset to lift your spirits.
Swing by for a few hours or stay the whole night, it's completely free to come and go as you please. Festivities start at 3pm and Francois will perform from 6pm onwards.
A talented artist from Cape Town, Francois has built quite a name for himself and has opened for artists like Francois Van Coke, Koos Kombuis and Gerald Clark, to name a few. He has a repertoire of over 300 popular folk and acoustic rock covers.
Lee Vivaliano from Elalini Backpackers says: "We want to say a special thank you to our artist for the evening, Francois Haasbroek, for helping us make this event possible."
"To those who have been affected, we would like to send our deepest, heartfelt sympathy," says Lee. "This has not been an easy week, but the extent and amount of support has been absolutely amazing. Our community is strong and together we will all get through this."
Bring your own blankets, alcoholic beverages, friends and family, laughter, dancing shoes (if you want to boogie), positive vibrations and love.
Elalini Backpackers is in Buffalo Bay at the Old Goukamma Station. This event is suitable for the whole family to enjoy. The farm-style restaurant Flippin' Knys will also be OPEN on the night. Ice will be available to purchase at Elalini Backpackers.
You are welcome to bring your own tent.
