Andre Bouwer: some of the tributes on social media

Corne Stander - China
Mnr Andre Bouwer, vir 11 jaar was jy my skoolhoof gewees. Ek was 11 keer te veel in jou kantoor... per jaar. Rus sag, Meneer.
((Baie dankie Stephanie van Wyk vir jou stem in die video by https://www.facebook.com/corne.stander.3/videos/10214837521393491/ - ons weet jy was sy grootste skitterende ster!))

Tayla Putzier - USA
Today an incredible human being left our world. Mr Bouwer, you were more than just a headmaster. You were a father, not only to your daughters whom you loved so much, but to every single student that passed through your school doors. You had the best intentions for every soul you came across and wanted only to see them rise higher than they thought they could.
Even after I matriculated, years in fact, I’d see you in the stores and your presence was just a wave of positivity and love. You wanted to know how I was and you remembered every single detail of my life I had told you, as if I was your only friend in the world.
But I wasn’t. You treated everyone you came across that way. You had an uncanny ability to make people feel incredibly special and appreciated. Months before I left for America, we had coffee together and I remember you said to me: “My girl, you’re going to go far. I just know it.” Then you flashed me your famous smile and took a sip of your coffee.
I wish you knew just how many lives you touched. How many people you inspired to push for greatness. How many wounds you healed and hearts you filled. How LOVED you were and still are. Mr Bouwer, you were a symbol of love and strength in so many ways for so many people. May you Rest In Peace among the stars, and we will know the brightest one is you.

Wow, I can't believe that I am actually saying this but Rest In Peace, Meneer Bouwer! You were more than a headmaster, you were like a dad, you will forever be missed.
Thank you for the great memories and all the times when you took my hand and dragged me on to right path again. Thank you for the great headmaster that you were - you are and will always be the best teacher and friend!
Like me, there hundreds of other old students of yours will forever be grateful for the person you were, and that you always saw the best in us even when we were too blind to see it. I wish I had one last chance to run to you and give you one big hug!
Meneer Bouwer jy was n legend en ons almal gaan jou mis.

Elsabé van den Heever: To Andre Bouwer’s family
If I could, I would make all the traffic stop.
If I could, I would silence everybody and listen to the birds- the wind- the waves.
If I could, I would let all the flags hang half-mast.
Plett bows its head in sorrow
I thank God for the time he has given Andre to be part of so many, many lives.
My jongste dogter Alex som dit so mooi op: "The world has lost a super- hero."

Mary-Anne Mam Cunningham: Extremely sad. What an absolutely amazing educator, father and Human Being. I once said if all schools can only have a Meneer Bouwer... Rest in Peace, Meneer.

Zelda Willemse: Baie sterkte en krag vir Suzette en sy familie. A man with a soft soul. ‘n Boom wat ‘n groot gat in die woud agterlaat.

Alta Nortje: Hy het 'n ongelooflike indruk op my gemaak vanaf die dag in 2013 toe ek hom ontmoet het! Dit is so tragies! Bid vir Suzette en sy familie!

Colin Garnett: We only met Andre in 2005 - but the sense of sadness and loss that my wife and I both feel, is as deep as if we had actually lost a family member. Our most sincere condolences go to the Bouwer family at this time of immense loss, pain and bewilderment.

Francois de Klerk : Ons wens die familie baie sterkte toe. Mag hulle omvou word met liefde en sodoende berusting vind. Die De Klerks vanuit Portugal.

Gaile Smith: A father figure to my daughter Danielle Smith from when she started and ended her high school career (2009 - 2013) at Wittedrift High. He knew every student by name and he could tell me why. What a loss to Plett. Mr Bouwer, rest in perfect peace. To the family, our sincere condolences and may you get God's strength and peace through our prayers.

Alan Connelly: A Rock... a gentle man... and a man of God. It was a total privilege to know this incredible human being. I won't even TRY to describe what he meant to me, my kids and the broader community. Andre Bouwer, we salute you. Be at peace with our Lord.

Helene Van Wyk: I met him a few months ago when he came to me with a blanket and asked to me to make him a jacket out of it. I still see the expression on his face when he came and collected it - priceless! He was indeed a good hearted, kind man. RIP Mr Bouwer.

Cynthia Windvogel: So hartseer, hy was altyd dieselfde met ‘n smile, en ‘n mentor vir baie leerders asook hulle ouers. Our condolences to his family. RIP, Mnr.

Belinda Lee Coram: Mr Bouwer was my friend, a father figure and in many ways an inspiration to me. When I moved to Plett and started working for BIA he welcomed me with open arms at WH which has subsequently become my home.
We shared so many personal stories of hope, struggles and dreams during our Saturday mornings selling pancakes alongside the BIA Pancake Divas - a small business started by the kids to raise funds for their educational needs, and I will treasure these moments forever.
Mr Bouwer is one of the grown-ups who never judged me - no matter how many more tattoos I got - and said he always enjoyed reading me! He made me laugh and I loved being in his company whether we talked or in silence.
He loved being in the company of young people and I can honestly say that for me, Plett will never be the same again. Rest in peace you great and kind man. My sincere condolences to your family.
