Bling it on!

George Municipality came out tops on Secretary Day (September 1), when Margaret Powell, right - personal assistant to George municipal manager Gerhard Ras - won the coveted 2010 Garden Route Personal Assistant/Secretary Day award at a glittering breakfast at Fancourt Golf Estate. This year’s theme was ‘Bling’ and secretary to George mayor Bazil Petrus, Stephnay Saayman, left, walked away with the prize for the best-dressed secretary with the most bling.

Red Door joins war on poverty

LAST month, RED (Real Enterprise Development) Door initiated a War on Poverty campaign in Plett’s Kwanokuthula Ward 3.
According to research done by the Department of Social Development, this is the Bitou neighbourhood most severely affected by poverty.
RED Door staff identified residents interested in economic development, and gave them business advice based on their specific needs.
The RED Door project is an initiative of the Enterprise Development sub-directorate within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, which aims to promote small and/or black-owned enterprises.
